When I am asked what I “do”, I can say that part of my profession includes gazing at hundreds of photographs of food. It’s a dirty job, but I’m more than happy to do it. It is also a hazardous job as it often leads to hunger and well, we all know where that usually leads.
Over the past few days, I have been gazing at meatloaf, the much maligned and abhorred meatloaf. But wait…have you really looked at some of the newer versions? There are some really fabulous recipes out there. During my research, I found a recipe for Spiced Tandoori Lamb Meatloaf. That ain’t what your mama used to make! I saved that recipe to try out in the future, but for my present needs, I wanted to find some great meatloaf photos to inspire me. I chose to create in miniature a bacon wrapped meatloaf. It took me quite a while to blend the right color for cooked ground beef, but once I had achieved that part of the process, I was off and running. Adding the strips of bacon was the fun part. Waiting for the loaf to bake and cool down was the not so fun part. Waiting takes patience, and if you know me at all, you’ll know I am severely lacking in that area. I’m not proud of it, but there ya go.
So…here are the inspiration and creation photos. I don’t attempt to precisely copy what I see as that removes my sense of creativity. I work from the inspiration photos and use them for direction, but my intention is not to duplicate. I don’t know about you, but I think I might have to go make a meatloaf for dinner! (Click on pics to see larger versions.) Enjoy!
Oh, so perfect, I love meatloaf, never had the bacon wrapped style, that is pretty cool. I am glad you fixate, it really pays off when you turn out such amazing miniatures. hugs
