OSS aka One Sixth Sense began concrete life in 2005. For many years prior to that date, OSS was alive in my imagination and doll dreams. I have always loved dolls. I have fond memories of my childhood dolls and still have most of them, although…they are much worse for wear. My very first Barbie doll was an American Girl Barbie. I found out a decade or so ago that she was not just any American Girl. She was a rare sidepart bubble AG. WOW! She now lives with a good doll friend who collects vintage Barbie dolls, but I have first right of refusal. Searching for information on that AG took me to the internet and what was at that time one of the few doll communities around…AOL’s Barbie Boards. Rubbing elbows with the folks there re-ignited my passion for dolls, and before I knew it, I was actively collecting! Not long after I began collecting, I discovered that a few people were creating One Of A Kind (OOAK) Barbie dolls. Now THAT was right up my alley! As a creative person, I am always looking for ways to express myself in tangible ways. I began collecting OOAK dolls. Shortly thereafter, I began to create my own fashions for Barbie. The movie Titanic gave me so many costumes to recreate! I was in heaven!
Serious doll play had to wait until our two children were home schooled to a level where they could work independently. Once that happened, I began to spend more time on dolls. I built my website and began to create. OSS has brought so much joy to my life and blessed me with so many amazing friends. I cannot imagine my life without the doll community that reaches around the world. Our kids recently graduated from college, and I work from home full time. Dolls have pretty much taken over the house. My better half, having retired from a career as a railroad signal maintainer, is now chief cook and bottle washer. I would not be able to do what I do without him. And that is OSS in a nutshell. For more info on me and to see more of my doll world miniatures, please visit my OSS Etsy Store. Thank you!
