I have been a member of the Doll World for over a dozen years, long enough that some of us in this Doll World now refer to life outside of it as TRW…The Real World. LOL TRW isn’t nearly as much fun and it often interferes with my dolly dreams. But occasionally, the two worlds collide. It’s a beautiful thing. 🙂
Over the weekend, a fellow doll artist and friend from the various doll boards came through Colorado on her way to the IFDC (International Fashion Doll Convention) held in Las Vegas. It was fun to meet in person someone with whom I’ve been conversing for several years. Laurie Everton of The Barbie Canvas creates incredible Mod Barbies and celebrity lookalike dolls. She has a very unique and highly recognizable style.
Laurie, her husband, and her step-daughter stayed overnight with us, and we chatted as if we’d been life long friends. And truly, we have been friends for years. We just haven’t actually MET. Laurie showed me some of her dolls that would be on display at the IFDC. Her work is even more wondrous in person! She really has a way of creating portraits on her canvas of choice…doll vinyl. Check out her website when you get a moment. You will be amazed!
